What to do in London this Christmas

If you have been already or maybe you have seen the pictures London is usually decked out with lights during December. It makes this huge, cold city seem a little bit more cozy after all. So if you are coming to London for the first time during Christmas it is a good time you've chosen. Apart from beautiful decorations and not as miserable people there is also plenty of attractions in London that might make your stay more pleasant and more exiting. However this post might be also useful for people that already live in London. As its a big city you tend to discover more and more each year. There is quite a few attractions I found about while living in here, but there is probably plenty of things I do not know about. So your ideas are very much welcomed.

xmas presents

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

Taste delicious mulled wine , watch Christmas shows, visit Ice Bar, ice-sculpting classes , Christmas circus , enjoy various rides and many more. London Winter Wonderland experience is definitely great and worth trying although it can turn out to be quite expensive form of entertainment.

Take various photographs with London Christmas lights or with a famous Trafalgar Square's Christmas tree. If you are interested in photography or simply you want some of this cute Insta photos you might want to find some of this London Christmas lights and decorations obviously the most of them you will be able to find in Central London, however there is x amount of interesting locations you can find outside of central London so don't be put off if you are not based anywhere close to central. I tend to take my pictures in North London area and still can get some decent Christmas decorations around me. You may also want to wrap up warm, listen and sing along to some of this choirs performing Christmas songs next to famous Trafalgar Square Christmas tree.

Visit Santa grotto in one of the multiple shopping centres

Every year in London there are performers playing Elves and Father Santa and Santa helpers in various shopping centres. You can find Santa Grotto in Westfield Shopping Centre almost every year. Apart from Santa Presents and visit in his famous Grotto you can also expect various shows, songs and dances that (hopefully) will make you feel true Christmas spirit.

Go shopping in Oxford Street

The Christmas cannot be without presents. Apart from the fact Oxford Street is one of the most popular shopping locations in London, the way they are decorating it is also worth having a look. If you want to get some fancy Christmas gifts from Fenwick thats the place to go. You can also have a walk through famous Selfridges. Would not recommend, if you don't fancy crowds while shopping.

Go disco ice skating in Ali Pali or ice skating at Somerset house.

Move your hips to the beat while ice skating in famous Alexandra Palace. If you are looking for something more traditional and more christmasy go to Somerset House and experience some of this Christmas atmosphere.

Escape room

Not something incredibly Christmasy as you can do it any time of the year really, but it is an amazing experience you could potentially try with your family during Christmas. If you haven't tried it yet check out for some of the Hauted House Escape Game Experiences with Adventox or many other companies and many other games you can find in London. It is truly unforgettable experience to be locked somewhere and try to find some clues and solutions to escape on time. It also gets your friends or family to work on it and have fun together. I think Christmas is a perfect time for an activity that brings you closer with your friends or family members.

Get some skiing or snowboarding classes on a dry ski slopes and indoor snow centres

Yes, London has plenty of dry ski slopes and indoor snow centres. I was surprised myself. If you would like to go skiing or snowboarding this year but you don't have a chance to go abroad or travel all the way up north, you can find plenty of snow centres in London. I know it is not a real snow and it is not the same experience, but I think it is a good alternative.

Trampoline park

Again not very Christmasy, but in my opinion any fun activity that brings you closer with the loved ones is a Christmas Activity because that is really what the Christmas spirit is about isn't it? Trampoline Park makes you lose a lot of this never ending Christmas calories and it is simply really fun. Especially recommend for children and young adults.

Southbank Centre Wintertime Festival.

Full of colourful Christmas lights , family activities and festive shows and performances. Southbank Centre Wintertime Festival comes back in 2018 with music and as usual Christmas Market.

Browse the South Bank Christmas market stalls.

Again Christmas Market comes back to South Bank with mulled wine and seasonal treats accompanied by South Bank Wintertime Festival and comedy.

Check out Christmas theatre repertoire of West End

West End is well known for its theatres. If you are a theatre/ musical fun Christmas is the best time to go. Make a trip to theatre a Xmas gift for a loved one and simply have fun together. Find your perfect Xmas theatre show with West End Christmas Shows.

Climb the walls in multiple London climbing centres

There are plenty of climbing centres in London. I know you might say it is not really a Christmas Activity but again I think it is important to be social during this time of the year and stay active. First of all its a great time to get closer with your friends and family as no-one wants to be alone during Christmas. Also I think no-one wants to start a new year with a big belly and few more pounds to lose, so I think that might be an interesting activity to go for :D

Sing Christmas carols and enjoy the Royal Albert Hall's annual Christmas Festival.

Its a big venue. I am not sure if you ever been to a big Christmas Festival, if not that is something to add to your bucket list. I think its great to sing along Christmas Songs with various musicians, watch various shows filled with dance, music , film and comedy and many more. Spend some valuable time with your family and get yourself in a Christmas Spirit.

I hope that will give you some ideas for fun and social activities in London this Christmas. I personally love this time of the year and want to wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !
