Where to eat in Malta on a budget?

Updated: Nov 5, 2018

Of course we all humans we need to eat . When you at home its easy, you usually know where to find the best local restaurants or the best take away shops. The problem occurs when you go abroad. Did it ever happen to you that you ate the most disgusting food in the restaurant and paid fortune for it? Yes, it happened to me . Anyway, to avoid disappointment while visiting Malta check where to eat ( cheap ) with me .

Wagamama in malta ( St Julians)

When we talk about food as we know Malta lies close to Italy so you can find loads of Italian pop up shops with freshly made slices of pizza or lasagne starting from €1 ( there is definitely two in St Julians , and one in Pembroke ). For traditional Maltese food look for Gbejniet (goat or sheeps cheese ) which you can find in a widows soup also try a Rabbit stew if you feel adventurous. Also during summer season you can try a Prickly Pear straight from the Cacti ( you can pick it up yourself for free or get one from the fruit market) . The cheapest grocery store in Malta is Lidl ( but don't count on cheap prices as almost all the goods in Malta are imported) . You have an opportunity to try Maltese drink produced exclusively in Malta Kinnie ( I have to admit I do not like it like almost all the foreigners , but hey Maltese people love it -why? I think we tend to like anything we grew up with ). If you wanna eat some sushi the Cantonese restaurant in Bugibba called Fuyi is definitely to go to on the weekend . Only €12 for all you can eat and great quality fresh food is a bargain . If you want a cheap, quick and filling take away go to Kuzey Kebab , they serving enormous kebabs for only €5 you can also get a small , medium or large salad starting from €2.50 ( the choice of salads is massive and most importantly the taste is great ) .
